Ok, seriously, this picture is pretty adorable…

We had our engagement photo shoot in Beacon Hill last week and our photographer, Rachel, was AMAZING! Knowing about my little obsession with vino (and being a fan of MoreThanMerlot.com herself!) she insisted on this shot outside DeLuca’s market and it is so precious I just had to share. Check out the rest of Rachel’s work at RachelKatePhotography.com, you’ll be glad you did!

I promise I’m not yelling at you in German, this really IS the name of a darling little German wine I recently discovered! First of all, for those of you who don’t think you like Riesling because it is a “sweet wine,” please come off it. Riesling is a fantastic, versatile varietal that is not even always THAT sweet! Oh… Schist! is a great example of such a Riesling. A lighter wine with apple and citrus notes, it would pair well with mild dishes. No sticky texture, no super-perfumy nose, this is a simple and pleasant wine. Basically, if you like the sweetness level of Sprite or Diet Coke, you will most likely enjoy this wine. Seriously! I picked it up as part of a 3 for $25 deal so the price was right. The bottle is really neat, it is designed to look like someone shot a bullet through the middle resulting in a spiderweb of broken glass over the front. Unfortunately I could not locate a picture of it anywhere and I fear my recycling has already gone out for the week, so instead I leave you with this:
PROST!

Working isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Waking up early, doing stuff, it’s all highly overrated. Especially when it takes you away from your favorite hobby – wine! In a desperate attempt to not loose all of my readers, I am getting at least one post in for the month of March on a lovely little wine we tried recently called Wily Jack. Again, completely the type of wine you buy because of the adorable label, and this wine delivered! On sale for $7.99 a bottle, we picked up the Sonoma Zin to pair with some burgers on the grill. What is better than your first springtime burger after a long winter? Wily Jack was easy to drink but had a stand out flavor at the same time, really holding its own against charred beef and melted cheese. Anyone looking to move beyond the basic merlot/cab varieties should give this one a go – as Zins go, Wily Jack is not nearly as intimidating as most. Please just remember – Zinfandel is NOT a sweet, chilled pink wine! Try it out and let me know your thoughts, I’d love to hear from you! Salud!
